Scott thinks we can do much more to connect to our readers, by taking fuller advantage of the web's interactive abilities:
1. Publish a community calendar online and make it open to the public to submit their events so that it becomes a growing database that the public can add details or event updates to constantly
2. Allow for public comments on every story published online. Builds a sense of community between readers and The Spec and may even offer information we might be able to pursue as leads for updates etc. (This needs moderation either by software or, ideally by a staff member)
3. Create a reader generated photo gallery to mirror the popular classified page photo. Readers just submit their images. Again, welcome comments and generate a community of photo enthusiasts. This has potential for growth in other ways with best image contests, photo blogs, tips and technique pages and links etc.
